Health and safety will always be a priority for ASKAMS and it’s integrated into everything we do. We work very hard to continuously improve the working environment of our employees, contractors, clients and communities where we work.

Underlining our commitment to the health and safety of our employees, ASKAMS has BH OHSAS 18001, a certification that’s only been achieved by less than one per cent of UK businesses.

To get BH OHSAS 18001, we’ve had to create the best possible working conditions, identify hazards and put controls in place to manage them, reduce workplace accidents and illnesses, provide staff with better and safer working conditions and demonstrate compliance to customers and suppliers.
Each team member is required to complete interactive health and safety training when they start at ASKAMS. Project managers and regional managers are required to attend an IOSH Managing Safely in Construction course to ensure they consider every aspect of health and safety when planning site work.

Our managing director holds an IOSH directing safely qualification while our health and safety manager holds a NEBOSH general certification in Occupational Health and Safety. Furthermore, every one of our site staff holds CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) certification that demonstrates they have the necessary competence to work in a building environment.

As a business, ASKAMS became CHAS (Contractors Health & Safety Assessment Scheme) accredited, by going through a process to show we meet acceptable standards of health and safety.
