Duty to Manage Training Course

In order to remain compliant with legislation as a duty holder you must manage all risks that can

occur from asbestos being present within your building. ASKAMS are able to guide you through this

process from start to finish; they can ensure that you meet the requirements and understand your

obligations.

As a UKATA approved training organisation ASKAMS currently provide Category A and Category B

Asbestos Training as well as P405 Management of Asbestos in Buildings. They are now launching

their Duty to Manage 1 day course tailored specifically for building managers, landlords,

maintenance teams and property owners who under current legislation have a duty to manage

under CAR 2012 regulation 4.

The objectives of the course are to provide a basic understanding to all duty holders of how they

remain compliant with legislation, safe working procedures, what is expected in a survey, how to

assess the condition of asbestos and the use, requirements and implementation of an asbestos

management plan.

The course will be delivered by a member of the training team who are all approved by UKATA and

audited by Nik Porter (ASKAMS Training Manager) who holds the Postgraduate Certificate in

Education (PGCE) and has nearly 20 years’ experience within the asbestos industry. ASKAMS have

carried out training since 2007 and have an excellent reputation for providing innovative and engaging

sessions.

ASKAMS have training facilities at their offices in Warrington, Newcastle and Livingston but are able

to deliver the course wherever is most convenient for clients and their representatives. The Duty to

Manage course has been developed as an extension to the Category A – Asbestos Awareness

Training that provides people with a basic understanding of the risks associated with working with

asbestos and how to work safely and competently without increasing the risks to themselves or

others.
