Core values are at the centre of many organisations and here at ASKAMS it is one of our beliefs that in order to succeed we support each other and when a cause is close to someone’s heart we will do all that we can to help.
In the UK today there are approximately 2.5 million people living with cancer and the hardest thing to comprehend is that one in three of us will most likely have to face this at some point in our lives.
At the start of October we took part in the ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ – a little late we know but we do have a good reason. Joanne Scott our accounts manager spent a full weekend baking her delicious cupcakes for the entire office and site staff. 144 cupcakes were baked, iced and boxed ready for the start of what was to become a very entertaining day.
Coming into the office on Monday 3rd October was like heaven for a lot of people; our kitchen was full of not only cakes but also a whole host of goodies that staff members had baked.
ASKAMS coffee morning began as a small event 3 years ago and has continued to grow just as the first ever coffee Macmillan Coffee Morning in 1990.
Not only did we donate money for the cakes, pies and tarts we took part in a ‘Guess Who’ competition; consisting of photographs of staff members from their early years. This proved to be an extremely fun way of getting to know our colleagues just a little bit more!
