As the New Year quickly approaches we are determined to continue moving forward and improving upon our Health & Safety initiatives; namely our ‘Target Zero’ campaign.
With standards becoming higher and more stringent within the asbestos industry everyone in ASKAMS is tasked with knowing what their responsibilities are in relation to keeping themselves, contractors and members of the public safe whilst on site.
Throughout 2016 we have invested heavily in Health & Safety – improving policies and procedures, employing a dedicated Health, Safety & Environmental Manager, employing state of the art safety equipment for our site staff, increasing our audit programme and involving staff more frequently in tool box talks and improvements they feel could be implemented.
‘Target Zero’ is an ongoing educational and operational programme for the whole company; we value our staff and want them to ‘go home safely every day’. Since its inception ‘Target Zero’ is deeply embedded in the company ethos and all staff are made aware of its importance and, how to assess and identify risks as well as how to control and act in situations that may present themselves.
Communicating with our staff on a regular basis keeps everyone informed and strengthens the involvement they have. We highlight our progress with internal newsletters explaining improvements that have been made, achievements the company have been recognised for as well as initiatives that are still to be implemented.
We continually strive for zero injuries, zero adverse environmental impacts, zero safety incidents and every project is rigorously planned. All harm is preventable and our commitment to Health & Safety and the ‘Target Zero’ campaign will extend into 2017.
